Fix: D90 AutoFocus not working

D90 Body with Lens

D90

I purchased a D90 body few weeks ago and then bought a 85mm f/1.8 D lens. I mounted it on and started clicking a few pictures. Auto-Focus didn’t work. I quickly checked the AF/MF switch on the body. It was set to AF. I re-checked the software settings for auto-focus (a) and it all looked perfect.

I got a little worked up and did a quick google search and figured that some people had to even return and get a replacement for their body for this reason. Read a little further and figured that mounting has to be perfect, the lens has to rotated till the exact last lock-click.

So basically, you might encounter this problem if you are changing lens or you bought lens and body separately and fixed the lens yourself. The fix is to make sure you mount to absolute perfection without being too hard at it. If Auto-Focus does not work try gently screwing it a little further. It should work. If you still face issues, I recommend you to head to a Nikon Service Centre and have someone do it for you.

Happy Clicking!

Arna-Jharna: The Desert Museum of Rajasthan

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Arna-Jharna is a beautiful desert museum conceptualized by Padmashri Komal Kothari and brought to life by his son Kuldeep Kothari. I visited the museum about a year ago and was amazed by the way it was built up. Very small team, almost no machines used, 100% indigenous resources, using only the local knowledge for everything and anything. The museum is located on the outskirts of jodhpur. They managed to effectively collect water in the middle of desert and use some of Israeli irrigation techniques to make the entire patch green. This place is full of inspiration, I could share only the pictures.

Golf cap and the handsome guy

Friday, August 11th, 2006

I had done casual portfolio for 6-year-old Shrey almost a year ago. Shrey is now decently popular child model and most recently was used by Landmark (the chennai based retailer at their cathedral road city center store) as a model.

About a month ago I had an opportunity to shoot his dad – Abhilash. A pretty casual shoot and below are some of my favorite snaps. Let me know what you guys about it.
