where is raj thackeray?

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Mumbai has been burning and the media for once have kept politicians aside and focused on the forces and hostages. Great works by ATS and NSG. The big question everyone seems to be asking in Mumbai is where is raj thackeray.

So where is raj thackeray, really?

Raj thackeray was seen at one of the funeral ceremonies in Mumbai. Guess by now he knows that Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who lost his life has been part of the Bihar regiment and belongs to Kerala. In fact a major part of the NSG force constitutes of South Indians, people from states like Punjab, Haryana and UP.

Raj Thackeray is seeing India unite in Mumbai. That’s exactly where raj thackeray is right now!

Micromax Mobile: X1i

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Micromax is a Gurgaon based company mobile handset maker that has rolled out it’s new model called the X1i that sports a whooping 30 days standby time and upto 17 hours talk time. It’s quite a remarkable achievement for an Indian company.

MicroMax has it’s production units in India and has priced the model at 1,999. Steal huh?

I am expecting everything else to be average about this phone but love the price point and Indian origin. It will give LG run for it’s money in India.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1: Pricing in India

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Me and Karthik recently walked into Sony Store to check out the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 Smart Phone. Karthik has been looking for all possible iPhone alternatives (before he gets himself an iPhone, which he will eventually). We managed to check out few features and here is my quick word on it.

1. It is SLOW. All the fancy graphics bring down the speed of the phone.
2. It is overpriced. 45,000 Indian Rupees? Who are buying phones at 45,000 in India these days? Suddenly, iPhone looks cheap! :)
3. It runs a sad operating system. Windows. I have used various Windows mobile devices in the recent past. They suck.

The ideal price point for phone should be under 25,000. HTC phones are much better in every aspect when compared with Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1.

Support Ticket: CEOs Share

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I handle a lot of support tickets and sales questions everyday at Tenmiles. Constant contact with customers have tremendously benefited me in envisioning better software products. I believe every busy CEO should spend time with their customers. I read a post long back about David Heinemeier Hansson of 37 Signals that mentioned how busy david is but still manages to keep in touch with the customers.

Keep the customers happy, always!

Adium version 1.3.2, google talk won’t work

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Adium bug that makes me restless.

I have heard from too many people that Adium 1.3.2 (Mac) has frequent disconnection problems when using a gTalk account. Sometimes you are even unaware if the messages reached your contact or not as the connection drops and yet takes a long time for Adium to actually show the disconnected status. While Adium makes attempt to reconnect – the whole experience is very frustrating. Hope a fix is on it’s way.

Blur @ Sathyam Cinemas Chennai

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Blur is the new gaming arcade at Sathyam Cinemas. It sports few Nintendo Wii’s, many PC games, array of XBOX & PS3 Consoles and a whole floor of traditional arcade game machines (Car racing, Shooting and Flight Simulation).

The Best thing about Blur @ Sathyam Cinemas Chennai is it’s pricing. It’s priced by the hour. At 60 rupees an hour with an option to play anything (any combination) it really feels like amusement park with an entry fee. The management is good. They even serve you anything to drink ($$$) right at your console, so that you spend every single minute gaming.

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Ghajini audio release is scheduled for 22 Nov.

Ghajini is Aamir Khan’s new movie based on the Tamil movie Ghajini (which is based on an English movie Memento). It is one of the most awaiting Aamir Khan movie after Rang De Basanti. The audio release is scheduled for 22 Nov. The music is directed by A.R Rehman.

Aamir Khan has had a unique hair style for each of his movies starting with Dil Chahta Hai. In Ghajini Aamir has a Bald look, noticeable in most of the Advertisements he has done off late. Here is one of them (TITAN Ad):

I hope the music of Ghajini turns out to be as good as Lagaan or DCH.

Reliance iStore in chennai

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Reliance iStore has now opened up in chennai. Reliance communications is the new Apple reseller and authorized service partner for Apple. Considering their reach Apple is taking big strides to penetrate in India. I haven’t visited the store yet but have heard that is big and they don’t let you take pictures of the machines. Designer technology, huh?

Macbook Servicing in Chennai, India

Friday, November 7th, 2008

We have quite a lot Apple Macbooks in office now and have had some trouble with 2 of them so far. We used services of Datalogics and Ample technologies. Datalogic turned out to be a complete rip off. They would ask you to replace parts even before diagnosing the problem. Relatively, Ample Technologies is lot more friendly and professional in dealing with the issues.
