Kinetic Flash Inspiration, Singapore

Singapore is small, beautiful, nice and neat. I was at M-Hotel participating in the Kinetic Flash Inspiration, a two-day Conference & Workshop organized by Asia Events. It was an event designed specially for Flash Developers. Frankly speaking, I’m not a Flash geek and I use Flash more for designing than Action Scripting. But I was there more as a Sponsor (ScreenSwift) and was looking forward to pick up some Action Scripting knowledge and see what designers and developers in Singapore were up to.

An array of topics were covered and very well followed up by a one-day workshop, which was quite effective. Topics covered included Cartoon Animation, Flash games, developing flash applications and a special focus on Action Scripting. Michael Amos of Moshi Design presented some excellent tips & tricks and basics of cartooning. He strongly recommended all the budding cartoonist & designers to put ideas to pen and paper before touching the mouse. There was a good session on gaming as well. We created our own game in the workshop and surprisingly it was quite simple. Its more about the concept of the game, there is no rocket science involved coding a game in Flash. There were more sessions on creating applications in flash like survey system, chart generation system and more.

I personally enjoyed a local speaker at the conference. Kun, a moderator at FlashMove was talking about Math’s in Flash. He was explaining the basic Science and math formulae for Inertia, torque etc. and how beautifully they could be applied for stunning outputs. It was quite inspiring. I have learnt a good deal of AS at the end of the conference and discovered new arenas where my business could focus.

Besides, I felt Indian flashers and multimedia companies can do lot more and become big players in the world market. We should probably have more conferences and workshops to bring up more flash talent in India.
